Product Description

Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant that brightens the skin tone and reduces the appearance of signs of aging.

The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder offers a very fine L-Ascorbic Acid powder that visibly targets the appearance of uneven skin tone, dullness, and signs of aging and is formulated to be mixed with other treatments (except those containing Niacinamide or EUK 134).

The format of this formula is a suspension of very fine L-Ascorbic Acid powder and, as such, provides the most direct exposure of extremely high concentrations of Vitamin C topically. With such format, a very strong tingling but non-irritating sensation is expected during the first 1-2 weeks of use until the skin's tolerance to such high exposure is elevated.

If topical Vitamin C is used as part of skincare, it should be applied at alternate times with EUK 134 or Niacinamide (ideally Vitamin C in the PM and EUK 134/Niacinamide in the AM). Otherwise, EUK 134/Niacinamide can affect the integrity of pure-form Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid).

This formula is water-free, alcohol-free, nut-free, gluten-free and vegan.

Directions

Mix a small amount with other treatments in the palm of your hand and apply to face in the AM or the PM. A tingling sensation can be expected after application. Do not mix with formulations containing Niacinamide or EUK 134.

Ingredients

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased I like the L-Ascorbic Acid powder. I’ve been mixing it with Resveratrol & Ferulic acid, a bit of Vitamin E oil, glycerin and a small amount of distilled water to create a serum I use in the mornings. I do see an improvement in my complexion’s brightness and more even skin tone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didn’t come with a scooper🥺 This is. My 3 container, will purchase again. I’ve also have purchased for Daughter and Daughter in law who have also turned other family and friends onto product, my issue is this one didn’t come with small scooper and I’m not happy and it cost you 5 stars. I’m 60 years old and take very good care of my skin, I mix with Clinique moisture surge also love the powder Niacinimide from TO, a must try. No need to use highlighter

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product, bad package. I forgot why got rid of this product years ago and bought another one recently. I love that it doesn’t lose potency like liquid products. However, there is no way to measure this product accurately and the first time I used it I used a quarter spoon and burned my face, which is still peeling a week later. So I threw it out again. If you could come up with a good delivery system I would use it all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does anyone else smell like wet pennies/eggs? I had been using tis for YEARS!! This is a game changer and booster. I used to add it to my Glycolic Acid Toner from the Ordinary, but now I add it to my BHA Liquid Exfoliant by Paulas Choice and it’s a slam dunk lol…My only hang up.. Why does this stuff make my hands smell like eggs 😭? It’s to a point where it makes me nauseous.. its there a way around this??

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Will stain clothes!! This will stain your clothes!! I wish there was a better warning about that. I ruined many towels, pjs and bed sheets before I realized. Over time it causes a dark yellow/brown stain to form on fabrics. I even notice it stains my hands a bit as well. I mix this with a moisturizer daily. I like the product, but it does have a weird smell. Overall I think there are probably better products out there that will give you the same benefits without the annoyance of staining and smelling weird.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well but sticky I truly do love this product, I’ve been using it for quite a while now however I have noticed that when you put the powder it and then apply it onto your face it’s a bit sticky. Apart from that the product does it job very well and has started to fade my acne and post hyperpigmentation.

can I mix this with my DHC Coenzyme Q10 moisture gel in AM and Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F in PM. I have Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane and Lactic Acid 5% + HA. Please advice which I can use and when with Buffet copper peptide

Asked by: Saffi
Hey there, For products that aren’t from The Ordinary unfortunately we won’t be able to advise on whether it’s safe to mix their Q10 moisturiser with any of their products as they haven’t been tested for this. We would also recommend the below options for you: AM: Buffet + Copper Peptides Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate 20% *if desired* PM 1: Buffet * copper peptides Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate 20% PM 2: Lactic acid 5% Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Hope this helps! Many thanks Katie, Beauty Expert.

Hi, I notice the comments re not mixing it with Odrinary Buffet. I currently mix it with Clinique for Men Hydrator. However, i have been applying this over Buffet serum am and pm. Is it ok as long as I'm not physically mixing the powder with Buffet?

Asked by: Ian
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to us. The brand advises the following: "For the The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder, we would advise not using it in the same routine as the The Ordinary 'Buffet' for best results, so I’d recommended not using it in the AM. For best results we’d recommend using the The Ordinary 'Buffet' in the AM and then the powder mixed with the moisturiser in the PM." I hope this helps! Thanks, Chloe - Beauty Expert

Hi, am wondering why this and any other of the vit c products from the ordinary can not be mixed with peptides ie buffet and matrixly? As there are loads of single products on the market with both in them. Cant seem to find an answer anywhere. Thanks

Asked by: Roisin
Hi there, The reason The Ordinary suggest to alternate pure and ethylated forms of vitamin C with peptides is that the acidic nature of the vitamin C can hydrolyse (break down) the peptides and thereby compromising their efficacy. With regards to other brands, they can't officially comment on other products, but from theirknowledge they would imagine that other products that combine the two perhaps use a derivative of vitamin C (which do not break down peptides) instead of pure vitamin C. The way to check this would be to look on the ingredients list. If it lists "ascorbic acid" then it is pure vitamin C, and if it is something like sodium ascorbate, ascorbyl glucoside or magnesium ascorbyl phosphate then it will be a derivative. Hope this helps! What "other treatments" can this product be mixed with?

Asked by: Stesha
Hi there, The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder, it can be mixed with most water-based serums or moisturisers from The Ordinary. The ones the customer should definitely avoid would be the following: Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Buffet Buffet + Copper Peptides 1% Matrixyl 10% + HA Argireline Solution 10% We would also advise against mixing it with any of our direct acids or retinoid products unless your skin is super hyper non-sensitive! The Ordinary highly recommend the Natural Moisturising Factors + HA or the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. They could also use an oil, although the powder will not dissolve in oil and so therefore may feel slightly gritty! Hope this helps. Thanks Katie, Beauty Expert.
